# TROPIC

## Introduction

There are TWO variants of the small VMU / FMU (flight management unit) that use the name TROPIC.\
They are both opensource designs and may be copied and recreated as you wish.\
The X-MR-VMU-TROPIC will be released on nxp.com as MR-VMU-TROPIC later in 2026. Check NXP.com or distributors for purchasing this evaluation board. All the design files are also published on Github.

{% hint style="warning" %}
QGC (QGroundControl) supports TROPIC as of version 5.1.0 , you will need to use at least this version or later in order to use QGC to bootload firmware to the board. (noted August 2026)
