ABS
Pros:
High heat resistance: ABS can withstand higher temperatures (up to ~100°C) without deforming, making it suitable for parts near motors or electronics that generate heat.
Good impact strength: ABS is tougher than PLA and PETG, making it more suitable for structural components that need to endure crashes or mechanical stress.
Post-processing friendly: ABS can be sanded, drilled, and smoothed with acetone vapor, allowing for cleaner finishes and stronger joints.
Cons:
Difficult to print: ABS requires a heated bed and an enclosed printing environment to prevent warping and cracking. It’s more sensitive to temperature fluctuations during printing.
Fumes during printing: ABS emits unpleasant and potentially harmful fumes, so good ventilation is essential.
Moderate flexibility: ABS is more rigid than TPU but less brittle than PLA. It can flex slightly under stress but may crack if pushed too far.
